Judaism is the religion and culture of a People - the Jewish People - that began with the biblical Abraham and Sarah nearly 4,000 years ago, and continues through us and our descendants. To understand and live it, Judaism assumes that each of us, individually and as a community, will continue to study it throughout our lives.
Judaism 101 will introduce many aspects of Judaism as a gateway to continued study and growth throughout life. All are invited to attend: people who may be interested in converting to Judaism; Jews who want to supplement the Jewish education they received earlier in life; and non-Jews who are simply curious about Judaism. Har Shalom members and others are welcome to drop in for individual classes or register for the entire 32-week course.
This course will be taught by Rabbi Hillel Katzir, a retired rabbi and Har Shalom member. After living in Israel for several years in his 20s and 30s, he became a rabbi at age 50, and has taught Judaism in many different venues for more than 20 years.
