Mitzvah Makers

Har Shalom's Mitzvah Makers program offers an opportunity for every person to give back to their community in a way that works for them. When you sign up to receive Mitzvah Maker emails, once a month you will hear about mitzvot and tikkun olam projects initiated or supported by Har Shalom.

By joining this email list, you will be the first call when a community member requests help with meals, rides, or donation items like clothing. You can participate in the call to action if it works for you, or you can rely on others to help if the timing isn't right. Our community is only as strong as our supporters, and we know with your help, every one of us is lifted up.

To request a meal train for yourself or another congregant, please use the Mitzvah Maker Request Form.

To join the distribution list, please email connect@nocoharshalom.org and type "COUNT ME IN."

Recurring Monthly Opportunities

Volunteer with Larimer County Food Share through Har Shalom's Tikkun Olam Committee

The Tikkun Olam Committee creates opportunities to repair the world, one action at a time.  In 2024, our focus is helping to alleviate food insecurity in Larimer County, beginning with monthly opportunities to volunteer at the local Food Bank. You can sign up for a shift here.

Volunteer with the Cultural Enrichment Center to Maintain Vegetable Gardens

Join the Tikkun Olam volunteers as we partner with the Cultural Enrichment Center of Fort Collins to help care for the community garden adjacent to the FoCo Cafe on Maple Street downtown.  This garden will provide needed produce for the hungry in our community as well as the FoCo Cafe's kitchens.  We are looking for individuals and families to sign up for a Sunday morning shift from 9-11 beginning in June.  No experience will be needed -- we will be watering and weeding, and possibly picking up trash in the paths.  Hoses and tools will be onsite as will be someone to oversee the volunteers. The garden consists exclusively of waist-high raised beds. Sign up for a shift here.

July 2024 Opportunities

Keshet Mutual Aid Project Donations

The Keshet Mutual Aid Project gathers and donates items to NoCo's 2SLGBTQIA+ community. These items include gender-affirming clothing, binders, tucking and packing supplies, and toiletries. We provide a safe, welcoming, and affirming space for those who are in need or have fled their home states due to hostile legislation. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of queer individuals across Northern Colorado. To donate, please email Rory Martin at rorym8991@gmail.com. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
