Mitzvah Makers

Har Shalom's Mitzvah Makers program offers an opportunity for every person to give back to their community in a way that works for them. When you sign up to receive Mitzvah Maker emails, once a month you will hear about mitzvot and tikkun olam projects initiated or supported by Har Shalom.

By joining this email list, you will be the first call when a community member requests help with meals, rides, or donation items like clothing. You can participate in the call to action if it works for you, or you can rely on others to help if the timing isn't right. Our community is only as strong as our supporters, and we know with your help, every one of us is lifted up.

To request a meal train, transportation or assistance from the Mitzvah Makers, please use this form.

To join the distribution list, please email connect@nocoharshalom.org and type "COUNT ME IN."

Recurring Monthly Opportunities

Volunteer with Larimer County No Cost Market (formerly Food Share) through Har Shalom's Tikkun Olam Group

Request for New or Gently Used Baby Items for Rory & Mia Martin

A message from Rory and Mia: Hello friends! We're reaching out to our community as we prepare to welcome our little one at the end of August, and would be so grateful for any new or gently used baby items you're able to share. Your love and generosity mean the world to us during this exciting new chapter. Thank you for your support, kindness, and for being part of our growing village!

Please drop off any smaller items you are able to share to Har Shalom during business hours or contact Rory directly at rorym8991@gmail.com for larger items such as furniture, stroller, etc. Gender neutral items are preferred but everything is very much appreciated. A wishlist can be found here but specific requests are a changing table and pad, stroller, storage shelves or a dresser, first aid kit, baby thermometer & nail clippers, newborn/0-3 month clothing, 3-6 month winter clothing, and pacifiers. Rory and Mia hope to use cloth diapers from Esembly Baby (pre-loved section of website here), size 1.

Request for Assistance with Dog Walking and Household Chores for Judy Petersen

Judy Petersen, Har Shalom member and Library Director, is recovering from a fractured elbow in her dominant arm. She would greatly appreciate help with walking her Great Pyrenees mix dog as well as miscellaneous household tasks ranging from vacuuming to laundry to yard work. Judy will need daily help for the month of August so please reach out if you can help on one day or several - anything is appreciated.

Please note the dog walking must be done by an adult as Judy's dog is quite large and reactive around other dogs. Must be available before 9:00am or after 6:30pm. Help with household tasks can be from an adult or teen. If you can help, please contact Judy directly at kpeter3434@aol.com.

Feminine Hygiene Supplies Requested for Har Shalom Restrooms

Har Shalom's growing religious school requests donations of feminine hygiene products (especially light and regular menstrual pads and tampons). Please drop off any donations to Har Shalom during office hours. Thank you for your help!

Host a Har Shalom Community Night!

Volunteer groups, families, or individuals are needed to "host" a Community Night (or two...). You or your group will be responsible for setting up tables and games, greeting people, welcoming them into the space, and connecting them with people or activities of interest. Host groups are also welcome to bring a little nosh, facilitate an activity or discussion, maybe even get some help with a project that requires many hands. Click on the invitation below to reserve a Tuesday night through Sign Up Genius.
